Long one of the few web3 games that didn’t have their own token, Chicken Derby announced plans to change that dynamic with the introduction of a new token called BAWK. Designed to function as the token used for most upcoming Chicken Derby features such as breeding and mini-games, players will also purchase Stadium rights with BAWK!
Chicken Derby wants to BAWK to you about their new token.
BAWK will have a total supply of 2 billion, with 70% of that available during an upcoming presale. The first 33,333 tokens will be available for 0.0033 USDT each (payable in ETH or USDT), with the price increasing from there, presumably at regular intervals. We don’t know when this presale will occur, but we do know it will happen through the Chicken Derby website.
The remaining 30% of the tokens will split between Marketing, Community Rewards and liquidity pools. Some of that 30% will be airdropped after the presale to Chicken holders, and those who have been active in Racing and Fusion. We don’t know if this will count retroactively, or just be for current holders.
BAWK Utility
Once BAWK is released, there will be races that use BAWK as the entry token instead of WETH. For these races, all of the proceeds go back to the top finishers of that race. The team will take no portion of the entry fees in races powered by BAWK. BAWK also opens up the way for the introduction of different prize structures such as top six finishers or winner takes all races.
Players will also need BAWK for an upcoming Stadium sale. With Stadiums, owners can create and run their own races. Stadiums can also be divided into shares for partial ownership.
And it looks like any new feature from Chicken Derby going forward, including breeding and other, non-racing games, will utilize the BAWK token as well.
What is Chicken Derby?
Chicken Derby is a chicken racing simulation built on the Polygon network. Each Chicken is a unique NFT that can be entered into races for paid prizes.
Chickens come in four Heritages — Serama, Sultan, Lakenvelder, and Dorkling, in order of rarity. In addition, there are a number of random cosmetic traits for each Chicken. Ranging from standard white feathers to tiger patterns to robot chickens! Every Chicken also has a special Talent that can trigger during races. This can be something as simple as a short flight, or as extreme as creating a black hole!
Chickens have Perfection ratings, which affect their race performances. All of the original Spicy breed Chickens have a Perfection Rating of at least 90%. But it’s not always the 100% Perfection Chicken who wins the race. Each Chicken also has hidden preferences for track distance and type as well as a Consistency rating. Players must discover these hidden preferences on their own.
With seven different terrain types, six different track lengths, and twelve Chickens per race, each with their own preferences, abilities, and racing styles, Chicken Derby features enough variation to ensure that the race outcomes won’t be predetermined. There are also a number of ‘Easter Egg’ type bonuses that the team adds to the official documentation once the community figures it out. For example, Chickens with Alien Eyes get a boost to their Teleport ability (if they have it). Chicken owners can dress up their Chickens with a growing number of cosmetic items.
Additional planned features include breeding, a social hub, and land ownership.
